MODULE 06
Test Procedure & Pass/Fail Criteria
Applying the right voltage is only half the test -- how the surge is sequenced, and how the EUT's response is judged afterward, is what actually determines whether a product passes IEC 61000-4-5.
| Criterion | Definition | Result |
|---|---|---|
| A | Continues to operate as intended, no degradation of performance below specification | Pass |
| B | Temporary loss of function or degradation which is self-recoverable | Pass (if allowed by product spec) |
| C | Temporary loss of function or degradation requiring operator intervention or system reset | Pass (if allowed by product spec) |
| D | Loss of function or degradation which is not recoverable due to damage to hardware, software, or loss of data | Fail |
Select what happened to the EUT during and after the surge to see which criterion applies.
